once again...

you managed to do better than me haha

dammit...

I submitted a dnb remix of this song the other day, and then I realized you had this, it kicks the shit out of mine. Same with your Super Mario Land Remix to my Super Mario Land Remix. HOW THE FUCK DO YOU DO IT MAN!?

well...

you did it again.

dj-Nate responds:

Ha, thanks man.

I'll give you 5 stars

because you put the midi to good use, but you lose some points because you don't credit VGMusic.com for the midi.

Also, The guitar synth isn't that good. Plus it's way too grainy at times. even real guitars aren't that grainy sounding.

But I like the drums, so, you get a 3/5.

Alexman159 responds:

I didn't get it from vg music. I got it from some free web site that probably took it from there. That web site didn't say who made the midi... Could you find out who please?

KRITISIZM

by minor choices for a happy hardcore song he means that, since its happy hardcore, it should be all major scale patters, and very rarely should it use black keys.

Now onto the song...

It's not bad, but it's not happy hardcore. And it really isn't that good. I can see that you have some major fucking potential, but it sounds like you are only using the demo version of FLStudio. Either buy it or torrent it, then get some better VST's, like vanguard or Helix or z3ta+, and instantly your melodies will start sounding better. Also, try and get a better understanding of music theory, and happy hardcore in general, because, although this is a cliche, knowledge IS power. The more you know about music AND the type of music your making, and the better you understand the program, the better you music will sound. Everyone starts out trying to do happycore, because everyone loves it and thinks it's easy. I'm sure you know it ISN'T simple or repetitive. Its fast, awesome, and catchy as hell. Try and get a deeper understanding of music in general, get the FULL version of FLStudio(i said before, there are like a million torrents for it!), and screw around until you get better. Your not hopeless and I can see that. But your music at this point really IS subpar, and it isn't really happy hardcore. And please, don't go telling me that my review is pointless, or that "i don't know what happy hardcore really is," because I do. I know more about happycore than most people.

I hope you find this review helpful in some way man...

ONESTEPAHEAD responds:

Thanks! for the very extensive review i have recently got some new vsts such as nexus but i am still using a fl studio demo (how did you guess that!?)the demo does have all the features as the origional, but i can't save being a major problem. And no i don't have experiance in music theory sadly, but im studying alot of happy hardcore artists and i've been learning alot of new scales to work with.
THANKS ALOT FOR THE REVIEW very usefull.

what are you 5

I have this same Midi!

That's how I learned it on real guitar. I like this song, but you should give VGMusic.com credit for this.

whoo

whoo

This is my favorite song ever next to Grind3 by Dev/Null

yay!

HHHHHHHAAAAAAAPPPPYYYYYY HAAAARRRDCOOORE!!!
lol

actually its more like upbeat trancecore.
don't get mad but i have some tips.

If you aren't making IDM or whatever it's called the beat shouldn't change so much. The main melody seemed a little off key at times as well. If this is happy hardcore, it should be mostly major scale patterns.

Try and use only like 3 sorta different melodies, and have like a gazillion tiny variations, so it doesn't sound jumbled.

The main issue hear is that I barely hear the same melody more than once. It's good, but i hope you don't get pissed at me for this.

Aeris responds:

it was kind of a mixed thing lol, i'm actually more of a classical writer, DJFF is more of a trance upbeat mixer. So if there is something wrong in the genre it's probably my (aeris) fault. We never get mad at tips :P

thanks for the awesome review :D
